LATIN AMERICA

Backpacking through Central and South America remains one of my favourite travel highlights. From the volcanoes of Guatemala to the jungles of Peru, Latin America has it all.

When it comes to hiking, a country that took me by surprise is Guatemala! Who knew there were so many incredible hikes in this spectacular country?

Peru is another top hiking destination, and there is no end of options. I can’t wait to return one day to see more of this breathtaking country.

One of the most popular hikes in Peru is, of course, the famous Inca Trail. But, that’s not the only way to hike to Machu Picchu, there’s also the popular Salkantay Trek.

Considering hiking to Machu Picchu? Check out my Inca Trail vs Salkantay Trek guide. Whichever you decide, make sure you have perfected your packing list for hiking in Peru.

Lastly, and by no means least, Bolivia is another gem of a spot for hikes. One of my favourite hikes I’ve ever done is Pico Austria, close to the city of La Paz. Be sure to add this to your Bolivia itinerary.
